KIM SE-GYEOM | BLUE DRAGON AWARD-WINNING SCREENWRITER, NOW MEETING GLOBAL PARTNERS

Kim Se-gyeom, the screenwriter of The Book of Fish and winner of the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Screenplay, is now meeting partners around the world through BEATLINK — for remakes and rights to his released works, his unreleased original screenplays, and new writing commissions.

Screenwriter Kim Se-gyeom

A STORYTELLER SHAPED ON SET

Kim Se-gyeom began his film career in the mid-1990s in the directing and production departments of Chungmuro, the heart of Korean filmmaking. After experiencing every stage of a shoot firsthand, he moved into screenwriting. That is why his scripts become living scenes that actors and crews can actually bring to the screen.

He established himself as a feature screenwriter with Vampire Cop Ricky (2006). In 2018 he first worked with director Lee Joon-ik on Sunset in My Hometown, the final film of Lee’s youth trilogy. The collaboration continued with the 2021 black-and-white period drama The Book of Fish, which critics praised for its “skill in threading a vast history into a story that is clear and vivid.” The film earned him three screenplay awards, including the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Screenplay, establishing him as one of Korea’s leading screenwriters.
